Training Programme

One of the main aims of GGNSE is to create training opportunities at affordable prices for our members in areas relating to supported employment. We do this by bringing in top class trainers to deliver programmes to small groups and by regularly notifying members of other local training opportunities. We work closely with our national organisation, SUSE, to ensure a broad range of topics are available to members.

2005 Training Programmme

• Introduction to Welfare Benefits (6th/13th June 2005) This 2 day course led by Paul Findlay of the Financial Fitness Team, Inverclyde was attended by 25 trainees. It incorporated changes to benefits rules at 5th Aprill 2005.
• Disability Discrimination Act and Employment : Legal Implications and Practical Steps ( 9th March 2005)
  21 trainees attended this training led by Valerie Crookston on Equality, Training and Consultancy and Giles Woolfson of Maclay Murray and Spens.
• Disability Discrimination Act and Employment : Legal Implications and Practical Steps (2nd February 2005)
  22 trainees attended this training led by Valerie Crookston on Equality, Training and Consultancy and Giles Woolfson of Maclay Murray and Spens.

2004 Training Programmme and Evaluations

• Introduction to Benefits (28/29 June 2004) 17 trainees attended this 2 day course led by Trish O'Connor of the Financial Fitness Team, Inverclyde.
• Sales and Marketing Techniques (16-18 August 2004) 17 trainees attended this 3 day course led by Doug Cresswell from Stockport Employment Service and aimed at staff in supported employment projects with a remit to market their service to employers.
• Introduction to Benefits (28 September and 06 October 2004) 25 trainees attended this 2 Day Course led by Paul Findlay of The Financial Fitness Team, Inverclyde.
• Disability Discrimination Act and Employment : Legal Implications and Practical Steps (29th November 2004) 19 trainees attended this training led by Valerie Crookston on Equality, Training and Consultancy and Giles Woolfson of Maclay Murray and Spens.

In 2003 we ran four courses on three topics:

• Introduction to Supported Employment.(May and July 2003)
• Health and Safety Awareness/Risk Assessment (June 2003)
• Benefits Awareness Training (November 2003)

There are no plans at present to offer our training programme outwith the Greater Glasgow area.
